Derek Da Silva

Hailing from Chicago, Derek Da Silva (http://derekdasilva.com/) has made a career of pushing the edges of gay video so as to more accurately represent the diversity of safe play found in the BDSM and Sex Fight communities of which he is an active participant. He made his debut with Shotgun Video (http://shotgunvideo.com) and enjoyed the experience very much—swollen balls, tears, and all. He went on to do videos for companies such as BG East (http://bgeast.com), Tom Ropes McGurk ( http://tomropesmcgurk.com), Steelmill (http://steelmillmedia.com), Zeus Studios (http://store.ragingstallion.com), and most famously has been in a string of Titan’s Folsom series videos (http://titanmen.com/), starting with the GayVN (http://gayvnawards.com), and Grabby extreme category winner (http://grabbys.com/), Folsom Filth (http://folsomfilth.com/) where he appeared on the cover of the director’s edition as the iconic dogboy. His full videography is on DerekDaSilva.com. Derek co-authors the Instigator magazine column “Anatomy of a Scene” with his Sir, Tony Buff.

Derek is also a long standing leader in the Chicago Hellfire Club, the world’s oldest gay men’s BDSM club. Finally he was the recipient of a National Leather Emerald Award from the Washington State Mr. & Ms. Leather Organization; he was adopted by Sandy Reinhardt into Mama's Family (http://mamasfamily.org/) as "Mama’s Punk Boy” and he is a member of the San Francisco Men of Discipline.

When he met Tony Buff (http://tonyBuff.com), of Seattle he found a true partner in crime. To see Tony more often he pulled Tony into the world of video and together they shot Tony’s first feature, “Soldiers of Misfortune,” Zeus Studios. It was on the set of this movie that Tony collared Derek and made him his boy – a relationship that has grown deeper and wilder since.

Outside of kink and video, Derek has a career as a record producer, and as musician. He enjoys serious literature, post structuralist philosophy, and is active in the BDSM community as a safer sex educator both on his own and through the Chicago Hellfire Club. He is also an avid martial arts practitioner and a practicing yogi – hence his vegetarian lifestyle.

2010 Presentations:

Bondage for CBT - with Tony Buff
Tony Buff and Derek da Silva cover a range of ties and applied techniques for cock and ball bondage in this presentation. Whether used to enhance those certain parts of the male anatomy or to torture them, these simple yet fully functional ties will let you restrict, compress, pull and secure all those nasty bits. Bring a male sub or, if you’re a guy, practice on yourself. This is definitely a hands-on class with plenty of opportunity for practical application. A 6' piece of “rat tail” should allow the practice of most techniques.

Needles for Bondage - with Tony Buff
This advanced presentation focuses on techniques applied when utilizing needles and play piercings for anchor points and bondage. Tony Buff and Derek da Silva review risks and safety considerations while applying best practices and clean/sterile techniques to demonstrate a variety of creative applications. This is an interactive lecture styled presentation without practical application. Participants are, however, encouraged to participate in other ways. Muhahaha! Please be advised, this class is intended for advanced Sm players and is not for the faint of heart.

Punching and Other Strikes - with Tony Buff
This intermediate class covers how to throw punches and other strikes without injuring the bottom or the top (no, really, the top can get hurt by punching with bad technique). Tony Buff and Derek da Silva utilize hands, feet, elbows and knees to demonstrate a variety of strikes used to create scenes with intense physical intimacy. The anatomy for striking will be covered as well as basic safety and risk considerations. This is not hands on class, but participants are sure to discover nuances that can help propel these types of scenes to new levels.

Shibari Fundamentals I. Basics: Simple Knots, Basic 1 & 2 Column Ties, and Tie Offs for BDSM - with Tony Buff
This is an introductory class that simplifies rope bondage down to its most basic elements. There are limitless possibilities in the creative use of few basic ties. All you really need are a couple of simple knots and a few simple ties to have a ton of fun. Tony Buff and Derek da Silva will show how most bondage is done by combining a few basic building blocks… and show very easy-to-learn ways to do them. Then they’ll show how these can be combined in endlessly creative ways. Ties covered include a simplified one-column tie, a simplified two-column tie and a basic tie off. All of these are done using only two different knots – yet they can be used in various applications, including a spread-eagle bed tie, a hog-tie, a chair tie, and many other variations.
